It seems as if the main sign of our times is the introduction of AI into virtually every avenue of communication in the world. Nevertheless, the Bible has an even stronger message than that: The wisdom of the world will perish, the intelligence of the intelligent will vanish ( Isaiah 29:14) St. Paul wrote on this subject as well: We do, however, speak a message, but not of the wisdom of the age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing. No, we declare God’s wisdom, a mystery that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. However, as it is written, : What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived– the things God has prepared for those who love him– (1 Corinthians 2:6-9)
The “sign” of the present times is not a sign of upheaval, corruption, fear, disbelief, or violence The “sign” clearly comes from God, whose character is love. The “sign” is the cross of Christ, the all good soul who gave himself away so that other human beings could believe in an all loving God. Christ is the sign of every time, the sign of God’s power and purpose on earth.
To this day people search ancient writings including the Bible, for a “sign”of “end times,” and produce many theories about time and place for the end of the earth as we know it, but the prophets and saints of God have said that the “sign” has been given in Jesus, of whom no human mind ever conceived; and when he appeared was misunderstood, for he brought the Spirit of God into the lives of poor and rich alike, of weak and strong as well.
In his Spiritual Diary St. Pope John Paul II wrote, “The only key with which . . . humankind should open the “signs of the times:” The Crucified and risen Christ: the foolishness of God—stronger than human wisdom, the weakness of God—stronger than human strength. (1 Corinthians 9:16)There has been only one true sign, an eternal sign. It is the sign of Jesus and him crucified and raised from death. He is the “sign” that ties the old to the new, and time to eternity. The mystery of Jesus endures through centuries of civilization. He is the true sign of the times from his resurrection to the present, and to all the future, the sign of all times.
Love in Him,
Prue
